The 2026 NFL Draft was completed last weekend, with three days of selections leading to 257 new rookies entering the league. The Miami Dolphins made five percent of those picks as they selected a league-high 13 college prospects. The Dolphins stuck to their board, selecting the players they liked when they wanted to pick them, leading to some discussions about the team “reaching” for a player or making a trade to move up to select someone who may have been available later.
Dolphins draft picks
The Dolphins made multiple
trades throughout the draft, including moving back one spot in the first round, from 11th to 12th, in a deal with the Dallas Cowboys. They also traded up with their second first-round pick, moving from 30th to 27th in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers. Miami calmed down on the trade front until the fifth round, when they agreed to a deal with the Carolina Panthers to trade back from the 151st spot to the 158th position.
In the end, Miami’s draft class was:
12th overall – Kadyn Proctor, tackle, Alabama
27th overall – Chris Johnson, cornerback, San Diego State
43rd overall – Jacob Rodriguez, linebacker, Texas Tech
75th overall – Caleb Douglas, wide receiver, Texas Tech
87th overall – Will Kacmarek, tight end, Ohio State
94th overall – Chris Bell, wide receiver, Louisville
130th overall – Trey Moore, defensive end, Texas
138th overall – Kyle Louis, safety, Pittsburgh
158th overall – Michael Taaffe, safety, Texas
177th overall – Kevin Coleman, Jr., wide receiver, Missouri
180th overall – Seydou Traore, tight end, Mississippi State
200th overall – DJ Campbell, guard, Texas
238th overall – Maz Llewellyn, defensive end, Iowa
Dolphins fan grade
Our SB Nation Reacts polls ran throughout the draft, giving us various reactions to the things the Dolphins were doing. As soon as the draft came to a close, we ran one additional poll, asking for your grade on Miami’s 2026 Draft. I let the poll run over the last several days, allowing for an increase in responses, and you delivered – and you seem to think Miami’s draft was better than the initial social media reactions seemed to indicate.
According to 53 percent of the responses, the fans give the Dolphins a “B” grade for their draft. If you add in the 16 percent that graded it an “A”, Miami had a highly positive draft.
2026 Outlook
The positive draft grades from the Dolphins fans has not impacted the odds for Miami in 2026, however. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Dolphins’ win total is still set at just 4.5 wins in 2026. That has them last in the AFC East and likely headed for the number one overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. If they do land the number one pick, the oddsmakers have Texas quarterback Arch Manning installed as the favorite for that pick at +165. Oregon quarterback Dante Moore is second at +500.
