Motor City became Meat City on Friday as two Nigerian heavyweights came face to face at an NXT live event in Detroit.
After Oba Femi defeated Je’Von Evans, DarkState struck with a surprise attack until
Omos made the save. With the ring cleared, Femi and Omos had a tense staredown as chants of “Meat” and “Holy Shit” echoed through Detroit’s Masonic Temple.
Femi offered a handshake, which Omos accepted — only to hold on and deliver a brutal clothesline as Femi turned to leave.
The unexpected confrontation came during the second stop of NXT’s three-night live tour, which began Thursday in Columbus, Ohio. There, Omos returned to WWE with a win over Lexis King. In Detroit, he scored another victory, this time over Myles Borne.
The tour wraps up on Saturday in Cleveland, where NXT is set to deliver a big finish.
Ahead of the tour, NXT head Shawn Michaels announced that Ethan Page would defend the North American Title at all three events — starting a rare house show storyline that Page continued on social media.
“Strange way of rewarding the only dude who won on Team NXT,” Page wrote, referencing his victory over Mustafa Ali during Tuesday’s NXT vs. TNA: Showdown.
“Carrying this brand is exhausting, boss,” he added.
Page defeated Myles Borne in Columbus and Trey Miguel on Friday in Detroit. After the match, he got into a scuffle with Cleveland native Johnny Gargano. The two will face off Saturday in Gargano’s hometown with Page’s title on the line.
