Isaac Allen: 7/10
Made a number of good saves, with one from close range with his feet and then another when he tipped a powerful drive over the bar highlights. No chance with the first two goals but might be a little disappointed that the third got away with him, stumbling a little as he chased it.
Alex Lienard: 7/10
A battling performance at right back, got stuck in and didn’t give anyone down his side an easy time. Let the opposition player cut inside for the second but had some bright moments going forward.
Ben Kindon: 6/10
Made a number of important
blocks around the box and almost scored with a close range header from a corner.
Joe Neild: 5/10
Like Jones at left back, struggled to cope with pace down the left flank but stuck at it and used the ball well.
Jenson Jones (C): 5/10
Struggled all night with runners getting away from him, not a good game at all from the captain.
Jack Whittaker: 5/10
Did much better when he was further forward and allowed to pick a pass but couldn’t provide much protection for the back four.
Kay Munyakazi: 5/10
Like Whittaker alongside him, he looked so much better going forward than going backwards, a bit too slow to turn and cover but was good on the ball when we were at the other end.
Felix Scott: 7/10
Scored the second goal after running into room down the left and smashing a shot past the goalkeeper and looked dangerous throughout, with his intelligent running causing the home side issues but didn’t see enough of the ball.
Tom Proctor: 5/10
Saw quite a bit of the ball tonight but thought he was guilty over overplaying too often. Did get an assist after putting a pinpoint free kick onto Ogunsuyi’s head but not his best performance.
Juan Riquelme Angulo: 5/10
Came off at half time, presumably to save him for a run out on Wednesday. Did OK, although was very isolated up top but did get a decent effort off after a quick turn on the edge of the box.
Trey Ogunsuyi: 7/10
Got a goal in the first half, heading in from a free kick and then set up the second goal with a lovely dummy and pass to Scott. Looked far more at home as a striker than he did before the break when he played on the right.
Substitutes
Charlie Dinsdale: 6/10
Gave us more width after the break, taking Ogunsuyi’s place on the wing so the Belgian youth international could go up top.
Jaydon Jones: 6/10
Tried to make something happen after replacing Proctor midway through the second half but didn’t always pick the right option.
Archie Lightfoot: 6/10
Was a bit more solid than Jenson Jones at left back.
James Barker: 6/10
Came on as we chased the game and stuck a few meaty challenges in.
Man of the Match: Trey Ogunsuyi
There were some decent performances tonight, in what was an entertaining but very open game and my man of the match goes to Ogunsuyi for being involved in both goals. Showed lovely movement for the opener, getting ahead of the defender to head home and then dummied away from his man for the second and then sent Scott away with a good pass.
