LOS ANGELES — Charley Steiner is calling Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, now that the series shifted to Dodger Stadium. Steiner is calling every home postseason Dodgers game for AM 570, making a comeback after missing nearly two full seasons while dealing with multiple myeloma and a broken back.
Prior to the Game 3 broadcast on FS1, Tom Rinaldi authored and narrated a feature on Steiner, which included interviews with Steiner, Rick Monday, Dave Roberts, and Dodgers chief marketing
officer Lon Rosen.
Steiner’s first full game called this season was August 15, against the Brewers, a moment he described as the most significant game of his career.
“I turned to him after it was over and gave him a fist bump. Neither one of us said a word,” Monday said of that August 15 broadcast. “I knew my buddy was back.”
If the Dodgers win on Wednesday or Thursday, they would make Game 5 on Friday necessary. It would also mean Steiner would call three consecutive games for the first time this season, and on three consecutive days.
“I’m ready,” Steiner told me earlier Wednesday.
