Bayern probably not exercising option on Jackson (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Bayern Munich’s loan move for Chelsea attacker Nicolas Jackson during the summer transfer window gave the Bavarians some assurance that there would be an experienced, talented striker behind Harry Kane
on the depth chart.
While Jackson has not been a massive hit yet, he has reportedly worked well with his teammates and impressed his coaches in training. However, his rumored €65 million is just too expensive for what Bayern Munich would be getting back:
With Nicolas Jackson, Bayern has an initial tendency that they will definitely not sign him permanently at this point. The package is too expensive anyway. The tendency is towards a departure, but he has been very well received and is training well.
The key thing to read in all of the recent stories about Bayern Munich’s potential move for a back-up striker next season is the word “back-up” — which seems to infer that Bayern Munich is pretty damn confident that Harry Kane will be back to at least see out his current contract (and who would complain about that?).
United boss vetoes Lewy move (ESPN)
It appears that FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is now off the list of potential signings for Manchester United:
Manchester United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has blocked a shock move for Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, reports The Daily Mirror. Lewandowski, 37, is expected to become a free agent next summer, and won’t be short of potential suitors if he does. However, United won’t be among them as things stand, with Ratcliffe keen to “not repeat the mistakes of the past” by signing a player toward the end of his career. The Poland international has scored 73 league goals for Barcelona since joining in 2022 on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.

Eberl says BuLi did not get worse this season (@iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl does not think the Bundesliga has lost an MPH from its fastball this season.
“The Bundesliga’s standing didn’t get worse. The financial means are stronger in the Premier League or even in Saudi Arabia. They can pay sums that we can’t afford in Germany and can have negative net spend. We have to work within our means. The budget is also a very important topic. Money obviously plays a big role in football,” said Eberl. “We’ve conducted negotiations, we’ve spoken with players, and there’s never been a rejection because the Bundesliga is unattractive. There are simply financial means, and they’re significantly higher in leagues like the Premier League or in Saudi Arabia than in the Bundesliga.
“There aren’t that many clubs that can compete with the sums we’re talking about. And Liverpool, in particular, are making quite a splash this year, if you can put it that way. But all the other Premier League clubs are doing the same, and if you look at the balance between income and expenditure, the Premier League’s net spend is blatantly negative because they can simply afford it thanks to their transfer income and TV revenue. We have to work with the resources we have, which are more limited for clubs, because clubs in Germany manage their finances very well. That’s something we mustn’t forget.”
Sonny headed to Milan? (ESPN)
LAFC attacker Son Heung-Min could exercise the “Beckham Clause” to play for AC Milan this winter on loan:
LAFC striker Son Heung-Min could join AC Milan on loan thanks to a clause in his contract — nicknamed the “Beckham clause” — that enables him to move to Europe during the MLS winter break. Calciomercato reports that the former Tottenham forward, 33, is keen to maintain his fitness in South Korea’s buildup to the 2026 World Cup next summer, and would consider a switch when the MLS season breaks for three months.
