Sure, Bayern Munich had won 15 matches in a row to start the season before traveling to Paris and facing the Qatari-sponsored Paris Saint Germain. Still, many people said that this was Bayern’s big test
and that they would have to win this game to prove they are the real deal. But win the game they did and, reminiscing about it months later, Bayern CEo Jan-Christian Dreesen points it out as the Bavarians’ most impressive game of the season:
“The Champions League game in Paris with two completely different halves [was the most impressive]. We played an incredible first half, dominating the game with our dynamism and attacking football.,” Dreesen gushed, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “After Luis Díaz’s sending-off, we showed a completely different character after the break against a very strong team: The team defended passionately, fought hard, everyone sacrificed themselves for each other to bring home the 2-1 win – and we’re only talking about the league stage, not the final. That was fabulous.”
Bayern will be hoping to replicate these kinds of performances in the knockout stages of the UCL as well.
