Barcelona have confirmed that Pedri is yet to commence full training with his team-mates ahead of the new season as he’s following a specific program.
Pedri has returned to pre-season training this week, along with his Spain team-mates, after a summer spent winning the World Cup with La Roja.
However, he’s been training alone and Barca say it’s part of a special plan and is therefore not injury-related.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Pedri was advised to start pre-season in the gym for “purely physical preparation reasons” and then head out onto the grass which he has now done.
Barcelona are currently finalizing their pre-season preparations and will take on FC Basel in a friendly on Sunday before their final warm-up game on Wednesday in the Joan Gamper trophy.
After that, Hansi Flick and his players will be focused on their first La Liga game of the season which takes place next Sunday away at Elche.
