Recent departures from the New England Patriots’ 53-man roster will be staying at Gillette Stadium.
The organization is in the process of re-signing offensive lineman Brenden Jaimes and cornerback Miles
Battle to the practice squad, according to a report from ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
After being placed on waivers
to make room for reinforcements from injured reserve, both went unclaimed and became free agents on Wednesday.Jaimes, 26, was promoted to the active roster last week after twice serving as a standard elevation. The vested veteran played eight snaps at center during his latest appearance. He has also played 21 snaps on special teams since heading to New England in September.
Selected the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft, Jaimes stands 49 games into his run. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Nebraska product spent four years with the Los Angeles Chargers before logging an offseason swint with the Tennessee Titans. He has made three career starts along the interior offensive line.
Battle, 25, began 2025 on the practice squad and returned to the active roster in November. The corner has appeared in five games this campaign for New England, totaling three tackles across 29 snaps on defense and 54 snaps on special teams.
Originally signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2024, Battle spent the majority of his rookie year on the practice squad in Foxborough after visiting for a workout. The 6-foot-3, 197-pound former transfer from Ole Miss to Utah made his NFL debut with three passes defensed as a member of the 53 as the calendar turned to January.
A corresponding move will be required to make room on the practice squad.
The Patriots recently opened the 21-day practice windows for offensive tackle Will Campbell, defensive tackle Milton Williams and cornerback Alex Austin. Yet to be activated, all three have resided on injured reserve since late November.
The 13-3 AFC East champions host the Miami Dolphins for the season finale on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
