It appears as though Jahmai Mashack didn’t have to wait too long for his first NBA shot to come to fruition.
The team announced on Sunday that it has signed the former Tennessee Vols guard to a two-way
contract. The team announced the release of PJ Hall at the same time as Mashack’s addition.
Mashack was drafted by the Grizzles with the 59th overall pick back in the 2025 NBA Draft in June. Since his selection, he’s been in the G League, where he’s totaled 7.6 points, 5.4 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game through 5 games. His 3.4 steals per game ranks second in the league.
The Grizzles have been decimated by injuries to their guards, with four of their guards have been on the injury report going back to last month, including franchise player Ja Morant. Mashack won’t bring a big offensive spark, but his defensive prowess and hustle will have an impact as at least a depth option for the Grizzles as they work to get healthy.
Mashack was one of the best defenders in the nation during his time at Tennessee, where he helped the program reach back-to-back Elite Eight appearances in 2023-24 and 2024-25 for the first time in school history.
