The All-America honors came pouring in last week, and a number of Miami Hurricanes found themselves earning nods from various outlets after strong performances in 2025.
However, the big one was released on Monday in the form of the Associated Press All-America team, and three Hurricanes found themselves among their ranks: Francis Mauigoa, Rueben Bain, Jr., and Malachi Toney.
Mauigoa earned first-team
honors on the AP team, while Bain and Toney earned the nod on the second team. For Mauigoa, it was one of many first-team honors including the other outlets who released their teams last week. And for Bain, it’s another slight to put in his notebook.
Being a second-team All-American is nothing to sneeze at, obviously, but Texas A&M edge rusher Cashius Howell was named above him as first team. Think that doesn’t matter to him?
It’s the second straight year Miami has had first-team AP All-American honors, with Mauigoa joining Cam Ward and Xavier Restrepo last year. And with so many receiving various honors over the last few days, it’s a testament to the talent level that Mario Cristobal has built up in four years in Coral Gables.
Go Canes!
