The Los Angeles Chargers should be preparing to play their Week 2 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders without wide receiver Ladd McConkey.
McConkey was a non-participant for the second consecutive day in practice due to a rib injury he suffered in the team’s Week 1 loss against the Arizona Cardinals. His status for the game against the Raiders is very much in doubt.
On top of McConkey sitting out of practice, defensive back Elijah Molden, offensive tackle Trey Pipkins III, and defensive lineman Dalvin
Tomlinson were not seen on the practice field. Defensive lineman Teair Tart was limited with an ankle injury, while defensive back Deane Leonard was limited with an abdomen injury.
With McConkey likely missing the game this week, the Chargers will rely on Quinton Johnston and second-year pro Trey Harris a little more than they normally would. The team elevated Gary Jennings and signed him to the active roster, while they also added Marquez Valdes-Scantling, a two-time Super Bowl champion, to the practice squad.
For the Raiders, tight end Brock Bowers was not on the practice field because he underwent knee surgery last week. He was joined on the injury report by cornerback Darien Porter, who’s dealing with a foot injury, and third-string quarterback Aidan O’Connell, who missed practice due to personal reasons.
Kickoff between the Raiders and Chargers is scheduled for Sunday at 1:05 p.m. PT inside SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Fans can watch the game on CBS or stream it on the Paramount Plus app.
