An already event-filled October weekend in Tucson just got bigger, as NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal will be peforming a DJ set on the UA campus following the men’s basketball Red-Blue Showcase this fall.
O’Neal, also known as DJ Diesel, is the headliner for the Post Move show set for Oct. 3 at Bear Down Field. The lineup will also feature a special performance from men’s basketball coach Tommy Lloyd.
O’Neal is best known for his stellar NBA career and his larger than life personality on television and movies.
“Arizona has been a special place for me since 2008 when I was traded to the Phoenix Suns,” O’Neal said in a news release. “Let’s see what Tucson and the Wildcats are all about.”
This will be the public debut for Lloyd’s alter ego, ‘Tomm-e,‘ and he’ll be performing a back-to-back set with former Beastie Boys DJ Michael Schwartz aka ‘Mix Master Mike,’ who was at last year’s Red-Blue Showcase and afterparty.
Also performing is O’Neal’s son Myles O’Neal along with several local artists.
Post Move will be held following the Red-Blue Showcase, the annual men’s basketball intrasquad scrimmage inside McKale Center. That begins at 6 p.m. PT, with doors opening for the afterparty at 7 with a scheduled 8 p.m. PT start.
Current student-athletes, coaches and Wildcats legends will also be attending the show. The show features giveaways, games, and surprise guests. Perhaps Arizona fans will see the return of basketball legends like Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye who hosted the Red-Blue showcase in 2023.
This only adds to the excitement for the first week of October. Arizona volleyball hosts on Oct. 2 and Arizona football hosts Oklahoma State on Oct. 4.
