Time flies, doesn’t it? Harry Kane is entering a contract year at Bayern Munich. The English striker has already completed three full seasons in Bavaria since his big move from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 — an eon ago, in footballing terms.
And while all is good in the Bavarian neighborhood, it does mean that talk about his future is inevitably starting to swirl.
For his part, Kane has not signaled anything other than business as usual. He’s happy at Bayern and Bayern are, of course, delighted with him.
“I only have one year left on my contract, so now is the time to talk about it. We’ll discuss it next week or the week after. Both sides are completely relaxed about it,” Kane said this week in remarks captured by Az journalist Maximilian Koch (via @iMiaSanMia).
Meanwhile, TeamTalk has offered a ‘bombshell’ exclusive that a representative of Harry Kane has “held talks” with Saudi Arabia club Al-Hilal this past weekend. Kane reportedly is Al-Hilal’s top target at striker but even this report notes that the odds are slim, no matter how hard the Saudi club swings for him.
It is curious that Kane’s camp — in this case apparently his brother/agent — would bother speaking with a Saudi club at all. Aside of the positive signals between Bayern and Kane, the England captain’s ambitions would appear to be well-known and point to striving for Champions League success, which he obviously would not get by moving to Al-Hilal. If it’s a bid to increase his leverage in talks with Bayern…well, we will see if that works.
