Baltimore Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley returned to practice on Wednesday after missing Sunday’s win over the Dallas Cowboys with a toe injury. He was listed as limited on the team’s first injury report of Week 4, along with seven other players, including star quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Stanley did not participate in practice at all last week, bringing second-year tackle Carson Vinson into the starting lineup for the first time in his career. Vinson played well, but with the Ravens re-shuffling
their offensive line due to multiple center injuries, Stanley’s leadership and football I.Q. could be crucial to the offensive line’s success in the coming weeks.
In addition to Jackson and Stanley, Baltimore reported nine other players with injuries on Wednesday. Here is the full report:
Full participation
- TE Mark Andrews (hand)
Limited participation
- WR Zay Flowers (hamstring)
- CB Marlon Humphrey (hamstring)
- QB Lamar Jackson (back)
- WR Chris Moore (ankle)
- LG John Simpson (groin)
- TE Durham Smythe (heel)
- LT Ronnie Stanley (toe)
Did not participate
- DL Calais Campbell (non-injury related/rest)
- C Jovaughn Gwyn (ankle)
- OLB Trey Hendrickson (finger)
- C Ethan Pocic (knee)
Flowers, Simpson, and Hendrickson have been dealing with their injuries for a few weeks. The rest are new, but none are particularly worrisome. Hendrickson missed the first practice of Weeks 2 and 3 but still played a full complement of snaps in both games without any drop in his production.
Baltimore’s upcoming opponent, the Tennessee Titans, only listed three players on their first Week 4 injury report:
Did not participate
- DL John Franklin-Myers (back)
- RB Tony Pollard (foot)
- RB Tyjae spears (ankle)
Franklin-Myers is one-half of Tennessee’s fearsome defensive line duo along with All-Pro Jeffery Simmons. His potential absence would give the Ravens’ shuffled interior O-line an easier overall matchup and allow them to consistently double-team Simmons.
The Titans’ running back injuries could be a major concern for their offense. Quarterback Cam Ward has averaged just 5.1 yards per passing attempt through three games, while Pollard and Spears have recorded 4.5 yards per carry. An absence from either will elevate Julius Chestnut and Michael Carter into game day roles. If both were to miss Sunday’s game, Tennessee would likely bring Kalel Mullings up from the practice squad.
