Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott is returning to practice, the team announced. Elliott will remain on the reserve/injured list for the time being. Pittsburgh has 21 days to officially activate Elliott to the active roster or his season is over.
The Steelers have relied heavily on Rayshawn Jenkins and rookie seventh-round pick Robert Spears-Jennings in Elliott’s absence, which has led to significant struggles on the back end.
The Steelers signed Elliott ahead of the 2024 season to a two-year
deal. In June, 2025, Pittsburgh and Elliott agreed to a two-year extension, keeping him with the Steelers through the 2027 season. He missed 12 games in 2025 and has missed the team’s first four games after being placed on IR. He has two interceptions and three forced fumbles as a Steeler.
