The Las Vegas Raiders’ rookie cornerback capped his first NFL start by being named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in a 26-14 road victory for the Raiders over the Los Angeles Chargers as Las Vegas improved to 2-0.

Masses, a fifth-round draft pick out of Cal, has two interceptions and a tackle for loss in the Raiders’ win.. He started because Darien Porter was out with a foot injury. Expect Masses to get plenty of playing time regardless of Porter’s

health status moving forward. Masses has been terrific and has opened eyes since the offseason program began.

According to the Raiders’ public relations department, Masses is the seventh Raiders’ rookie to win a Rookie of the Week award in the team’s history and the first since Maxx Crosby accomplished it in 2019.

Now, it’s time for Masses to continue his development as this award shows the league they most account for the young Raiders’ defensive back.
