The Philadelphia 76ers will officially begin their 2025-26 regular season on Wednesday night when they take on the Boston Celtics on the road.
After last season, if you can even call it a season, it’s tough to really predict what will happen with this squad in the coming
year. Joel Embiid is not on the injury report for the season opener, which is a great start, and the team has added impactful youthful talent like 2025 No. 3 overall pick VJ Edgecombe. Key returning players like Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre Jr., Quentin Grimes and more will be joined by Paul George (knee) and Jared McCain (thumb) once those two return from their respective surgery recoveries. All in all, for right now at least, it looks like things should shape up to be at least a little better than last year for the Sixers.
There’s also the external factors such as the rest of the Eastern Conference being ravaged by injuries, leaving it quite open in terms of how the standings could ultimately shake up by the end of this campaign. In terms of both the East and for the Sixers specifically, the possibilities are endless — both positives and negatives.
