The Pittsburgh Steelers are less than two weeks from beginning their season in New York against the Jets, and they will be doing so without at least one starter on defense. Rookie defensive tackle Derrick Harmon is dealing with a sprained MCL and will miss the Week 1 contest. However, he isn’t the only one who could be sidelined to begin the season.
Edge rusher Nick Herbig is dealing with a hamstring injury and may not be able to suit up in Week 1. Head coach Mike Tomlin says he is unsure if the Wisconsin
product will be healthy enough to play against the Jets, per Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Herbig missed four games in 2024 with injury. Should he be inactive, that leaves a big role open for rookie Jack Sawyer.
