The Kansas City Chiefs have released their list of inactive players for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Tackles Josh Simmons and Diego Pounds, wide receiver Rashee Rice, tight end Jared Wiley, defensive end Jack Pyburn, and rookie cornerback Jadon Canady will not play. Rookie quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is designated as the emergency quarterback, meaning that he can enter the game if starter Patrick Mahomes and backup Justin Fields both become unavailable.
Simmons (back) returned to practice this week for the first time since about halfway through training camp in August. He had already been ruled out on Friday’s final injury report. Rice (hamstring) left the Chiefs’ Week 4 contest and had also already been ruled out after not practicing coming out of the Week 5 bye.
Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (knee) was listed as questionable on Friday. Sneed is active for the contest.
On Saturday, Kansas City elevated practice squad wide receivers Andrew Armstrong and Justin Watson to the active roster. As elevated players, they will automatically be returned to the team’s practice squad after the game. Both are active for the contest.
The Chargers have also released their list of inactives.
Los Angeles’ list of scratched players largely follows their extensive injury report from the practice week. Tackle Joe Alt (neck), guard Kayode Awosika (fibula), wide receiver Tre’ Harris (hamstring) , cornerback Donte Jackson (hamstring) and safety Derwin James (hamstring) had already been ruled out on Friday. Cornerback Rodney Shelley (hamstring) received a doubtful designation and is also inactive. Pass rusher Bud Dupree (neck) was listed as questionable and will also not dress.
The Chargers have elevated cornerback Isas Waxtor and offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill for the matchup. Both will dress for the game.
