The Professional Footballers’ Association Awards for 2025 were handed out tonight in Manchester, and to the surprise of absolutely no one, defending Premier League champions Liverpool rather dominated proceedings.
The headlining prize on the night, Player of the Year, was only ever going to Mohamed Salah, and as expected Liverpool’s Egyptian King took home the prize for the third time.
Salah was also one of five—and potentially soon six—Liverpool players named to the Team of the Year, including teammates
from last season Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Alexis Mac Allister as well as new summer signing Milos Kerkez.
Liverpool transfer target Alexander Isak was also named to the Team of the Year. With the striker not attending, Isak took to social media to issue a statement that was part thanks—and part going in two-footed on his current club as he seeks to force an exit.
“The reality is that promises were made,” Isak said in his statement. “To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading. When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue.”
Meanwhile, in perhaps bittersweet news for those who follow Liverpool FC Women, Olivia Smith was named Young Player of the Year. Smith recently completed a transfer to Arsenal.
