The big news Tuesday for the Seattle Seahawks was the decision to not sign veteran running back Joe Mixon to the practice squad after administering a physical to the 30-year old former two time Pro Bowler.
However, the Seahawks did make official a different roster move that was reported Monday, and that is the signing of Robert Henry Jr. off the practice squad of the Washington Commanders.
Henry went undrafted out of UTSA in the spring before signing with the Commanders, but failed to make the 53 out of training
camp and was waived at roster cuts. He now joins the only team Washington has defeated in 2026 with a real opportunity to contribute in the coming weeks with 2026 first round pick Jadarian Price on injured reserve and George Holani having been ineffective at times.
To make room on the roster for Henry, the Seahawks waived safety AJ Finley for the second time in six weeks. Finley was unable to earn a spot on the 53-man roster during training camp, signing with the practice squad after being waived. However, injuries in the secondary forced Seattle to make several moves to have the depth necessary to operate, and Finley was promoted to the active roster ahead of the regular season opener against the New England Patriots.
This could easily be taken as good news for the team as it relates to Ty Okada, who on Friday was a full participant in practice for the first time this season and could mean a return to the lineup for Okada is in store against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5.
Seattle also created an open spot on the practice squad by moving running back Jacardia Wright to practice squad injured reserve. No word yet on how the open spot on the practice squad will be filled, but Field Gulls will be sure to keep readers up to date once it becomes known who the Seahawks will sign to fill that spot.
