The No. 10 Texas Longhorns have completed the first third of the season, ending non-conference play 3-1 and on a bit of a high note. After weeks of offensive ineptitude, they got rolling in a big way thanks
to a talent mismatch against the Sam Houston State Bearkats.
While the level of competition played a big part, the Texas offense — and specifically quarterback Arch Manning — struggled against teams with similar talent gaps, so fans feel better with the performance Saturday. More than 600 yards of offense and getting nearly two full quarters of reps for the second and third-team players sets a great tone heading into the first conference game in two weeks.
Now, Texas has the privilege of going into the bye week feeling like their starting quarterback is back to form and letting their top two running backs rest up yet again, with hopes they will be available for the trip to Florida.
