In a game that was supposed to be all about Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers turned the narrative on its head on Sunday night and made it all about them.
Jordan love’s 360 yards and three touchdowns,
Tucker Kraft’s monster night, and a combined three sacks from the team’s top two defensive ends flipped the script as the Packers ran away with a ten-point victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Most of that productivity came in the second half, too; after having just over 12 minutes of possession in the first half, the offense dominated after the break and held the ball for more than 19 of the final 30 minutes of play.
Everyone in the building who was wearing green and gold (and white) had a part to play in this win, too. That includes the team’s stars, its role players, and its fans, who traveled impressively well and were audible on the broadcast. The fan base was so loud that it forced Rodgers and the Steelers into a silent count at times, despite being on their home turf.
This win also felt like a different kind of win than the last few weeks, when the Packers either needed to mount a furious late comeback or had to just hold on for dear life in the fourth quarter. This was second half dominance in multiple phases of the game, and it bodes well for the Packers in the weeks and months to come.
Plus, it’s nice to see your young quarterback show that you made the right decision in giving him the job.
