According to a report from FootMercato, Bayern Munich is once again contemplating a move for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhem.
This is not the first time that the Bavarians have been linked to Osimhen, who would be considered a candidate to succeed Harry Kane:
According to our information, the player – represented by the KBSport agency – is the subject of serious consideration at Bayern Munich . Bayern coach Vincent Kompany greatly admires the former Lille player, whose explosive start in Belgium
with Charleroi he remembers fondly. The Munich management is anticipating all eventualities regarding Harry Kane’s (32 years old) aging and is actively preparing for his eventual departure.
What about the rest of Europe? While Luis Campos knows the player perfectly well, having brought him to LOSC Lille, the door to PSG is closed. Osimhen’s exorbitant salary (€20 million net per year), as well as the price tag for his departure (around €150 million), are considered prohibitive by the Parisian management, not to mention that Luis Enrique isn’t particularly keen on the Super Eagle’s profile.
Elsewhere, all is quiet. Manchester United, Juventus, and Atlético Madrid have shown no recent interest. That leaves Saudi Arabia, still eager to sign him since last summer, but they are met with the player’s refusal: the move is not a priority for Osimhen, who still has many good years ahead of him in Europe.
The Nigerian formally made a permanent move from Napoli to Galatasaray last summer.
BFW Analysis
At 27, Osimhen is in his prime, but it is not as if he is dominating the Turkish Süper Lig. With 17 goals and six assists in 27 games across all competitions, Osimhen has been good, but maybe not at the level of someone Bayern Munich should spend a massive transfer fee on or pay a hefty salary.
That said, the club does need to start thinking about a “post-Kane” plan. Depending on how long the Englishman extends his contract for, Bayern Munich might have to start planning sooner, rather than later.
