Barcelona are hoping to have Wojciech Szczęsny registered in time for Saturday’s clash with Levante after the goalkeeper missed out on Saturday’s opener against Real Mallorca.
The Catalans still need to register his new two-year deal but are hoping to offload Inaki Pena and Oriol Romeu to resolve the issue, according to Marca.
Pena is wanted by Cesc Fabregas at Como and seems destined to head to Italy. Barca may extend his contract at the club first and then sanction a season-long loan with a purchase
option.
As for Romeu, it seems that Barcelona are hoping to simply terminate his contract as he is not wanted at the club and there are no offers for the midfielder at the moment.
Romeu still has a year left to run on his existing deal, but the club are hopeful they can negotiate some kind of agreement with the 33-year-old.
Barcelona will still have work to do after that. New signing Roony Bardghji still needs to be registered as does Gerard Martin’s new contract extension.
