John Cena came to NXT television this week to invite another wrestler to The John Cena Classic. First, he put over NXT for its passion and creativity, saying he misses it and loves coming around. The made a new chant for him — “you can’t see John Cena (clap clap)” — and he seemed to hope it would catch on, dancing in the ring to it.
He clearly still loves this so very, very much.
He didn’t waste any time getting to the good stuff, though. The next guy invited to the Classic:
Zilla Fatu.
Cena told him he feels like an honorary Samoan sometimes, considering he went at it with Rikishi, The Rock, Roman Reigns, thrown back a few with The Usos, and even being first in line to give Solo Sikoa an opportunity. Oh, and one more.
“I absolutely loved your dad.”
That one hit.
“Your family has done so much for me. It is an honor tonight to give to you an opportunity to debut in The John Cena Classic on Monday Night Raw.”
Zilla looked downright emotional as the fans chanted “you deserve it” at him. This was actually a hell of a moment.
Fatu accepted with nothing but excitement, and Cena was all smiles as he headed to the back.
