Good morning everyone –
I had missed the Ballon d’or ceremonies yesterday. Anyone know who won?
Ah – maybe this tweet will answer it:
Harry Kane won the 2026 Ballon d’or! And about damn time.
Menno covered this in the actual post yesterday, but the party is going to continue today because Harry Kane fully deserves this honour. And the trophy deserves him.
Harry Kane had some lovely words to give to his former club during his acceptance
speech as well:
“I want to say thank you to Tottenham Hotspur. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Tottenham.
“I was there from when I was 11 and the club and all the coaches helped me to live my dreams and all of those memories and those ups and downs have led me to where I am today.”
No more “one season wonder” or “he gets injured” nonsense. No one is more dependable than Harry Kane. He’s the best striker, the best midfielder and defender. He does it all.
Here are a few stats from his time at Spurs:
- Tottenham debut: 25 August 2011, vs Hearts
- First Tottenham goal: 15 December 2011, vs Shamrock Rovers
- First Tottenham hat-trick: 23 October 2014 vs Asteras Tripolas
- Total appearances for Tottenham: 435
- Total goals for Tottenham: 280
- PFA Premier League Team of the Year: 6 times
- Premier League Golden Boot winner: 2015-16, 2016-17, 2020-21
- PL Playmaker of the Season: 2020-21
A huge congratulations to Harry Kane – He’s One Of Our Own!
