Ahead of the upcoming Jake Paul vs Gervonta ’Tank’ Davis event that will stream live on Netflix on Nov. 14, both fighters appeared for an opening press conference where they shared their thoughts with the media on their fight before engaging in a little repartee. Here are a few excerpts of what they had to say.
“We two different guys from different worlds that’s still on that one same goal, to make sure our family, our kids and everything is okay,” Tank said. “So shout out to Jake Paul for coming
with me and making this event happen and his team, MP promotions, Netflix, everybody…”
“Turns out he can’t read, just like Floyd,” Paul would interject, referencing his MVP company.
When Paul was then asked about training to face a much smaller man than himself, Paul replied:
“Yeah, just a lot of punching down, practicing hitting below my knees and a lot of speed. We’re sparring some eight-year-olds,” Paul said.
Moments later Tank was asked about his own preparations to face an opponent much larger than himself.
“Somebody his size and things like that, we got to take him serious because we don’t want to say it but things can go sideways so we ain’t taking him lightly,” Tanks said. “We definitely looking at Jake Paul as a real fighter. I watch him when I’m training and when I’m home from the gym. We’re not taking him lightly. Again, it’s going to be good for the sport, I’m just glad to be here.”
