The Los Angeles Rams could’ve taken Makai Lemon instead of Ty Simpson in the latest NFL Draft, so it was fitting that Lemon took on the Rams in Week 4 to give him a chance and the show the Rams what they missed out on. How did you think he did?
Lemon didn’t have the biggest day as the Eagles offense as a whole struggled. He did make a few catches including a nice fourth down conversion. No, Lemon hasn’t lit his rookie season on fire to this point, but he has played more than Simpson, and that may
not sit right with some fans who wanted the Rams to get players who can help them in 2026.
Perhaps the Rams didn’t think Lemon could help them enough. It will be interesting to see if Lemon catches fire at some point this year, or ever, really considering the Rams could’ve had him.
It’s all rather interesting when it comes to the NFL.
Rams Rookie Report Cards After Week 4 (And an Update on the Ones That Got Away) (si.com)
“The player that many wanted the Rams to take at 13th overall was wide receiver Makai Lemon. Given the Rams’ shift to 13 personnel and the fact that he would have been WR3 at best, Lemon didn’t make sense at that spot. Lemon struggled during the summer with the Philadelphia Eagles and through four games, he has 10 receptions for 65 yards. The Rams’ current third wide receiver, Konata Mumpfield, has six receptions for 112 yards. Now, Lemon is undoubtedly the better player than Mumpfield, but the early production proves that the Rams were right not to take the USC wide receiver.“
The rare fiery Sean McVay moment that saved Rams’ season from spiraling vs. Eagles (clutchpoints)
“ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry called out one fiery moment from head coach Sean McVay that sparked the impressive fourth quarter comeback.
“Yeah, I definitely think this is really helpful. And the moment I think we will all look back on if the Rams go on the run that they’re expected to go on is Sean McVay gathering that offense around,” Thiry said on Tuesday via Good Morning Football. “… He was proving as the head coach what he’s always preaching to his players and they needed something to really get them going. And you don’t really see that from Sean McVay. You don’t see him get the entire offense around in the middle of the game and get after them like that. But he did and it clearly sparked a change in that team.”
Week 5 Consensus NFL Power Rankings: Are Rams Contenders or Pretenders After Comeback Win? (si.com)
“With 8:16 to play, the Rams had a 3.2 percent chance to win, and they somehow overcame the odds to come out on top 24-20. Quarterback Matthew Stafford led another fourth-quarter comeback and the two late touchdown drives were enough.
Still, how the Rams are winning is not sustainable. Stafford has thrown an interception in every game this season. He currently ranks 20th in EPA per pass and needs to be better, especially as the Rams get ready to play the Bills. Let’s take a look at how the media feels about the Rams in this week’s consensus power rankings.
ESPN – 7th
The Rams don’t move this week in ESPN’s Power Rankings and stay in the No. 7 slot after coming back from 10 points to beat the Eagles. Again, one of the biggest questions around this Rams team is its consistency. The Rams haven’t found a way to play for 60 minutes outside of their Week 2 win against a New York Giants team that was led by Jameis Winston for most of the game.“
Rams Week 5 Power Rankings Round-Up: LA Stays Mostly Amid Top 10 (sports.yahoo)
“NFL.com sees no change for the Rams from Week 4 to Week 5. The publication points to what was written above: the team found a way not to fold when it mattered.
One of the glaring issues that remains is quarterback Matthew Stafford. The reigning MVP threw another two interceptions on Sunday, pushing his total to six for the season. He had a total of eight in the 2025 regular season.
Yahoo! Sports – No. 8
Yahoo! Sportshas the Rams as being a top 10 team, but they have fallen two spots down from No. 6.“
Former Chargers 14-Game Starter Signs with NFC West Practice Squad (sports.yahoo)
“According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, former Bolts linebacker Eric Kendricks has signed with the LA Rams’ practice squad.
“Rams signed veteran ILB Eric Kendricks to their practice squad.”
Kendricks signed with the Chargers to a two-year, $13.25 million deal in the 2023 free agency, but was released after one season.
In his only season with the Bolts, the linebacker logged 117 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, six pass deflections and a forced fumble.
Now, after three years, Eric Kendrick returns to the City of Angels with the opportunity to play for a Super Bowl contender.“

Rams’ Sean McVay Calls Out His Own Assistants for ‘Unacceptable’ Behavior Toward Eagles Fans (sports.yahoo)
“A Super Bowl-winning Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay addressed sideline behavior after a viral video showed team staff taunting opposing fans during a tense fourth-quarter comeback win. Several assistant coaches were seen pounding on glass windows and gesturing toward spectators seated below their stadium box.
Sean McVay said he spoke directly with his staff about maintaining professional standards. He stressed that emotion must come with composure, insisting the behavior will not happen again.“
Rams report card: Grading every position after first 4 games (ramswire)
“That’s what makes now a good time to share a report card from the first quarter of the season. We graded each position group, evaluating their performance through Week 4.
Quarterback: B-
Matthew Stafford hasn’t been at his best this season. He had five interceptions in the Rams’ first 15 games last season and he already has six this year. His eight turnover-worthy plays rank as the fourth-most in the NFL this year, though he’s also tied for seventh with seven big-time throws.“
NFL Power Rankings, Week 5: Cowboys, Pats rising at quarter mark; unbeaten Vikings fall out of top 10 (nfl.com)
“For three quarters, serious, nearly existential questions began to build for these Rams. They’d fallen behind in Philadelphia and couldn’t get out of their own way offensively, raising the specter of a 1-3 start to a season that began with immense hype. But Sean McVay’s squad proved something amid the chaos of a fourth-quarter comeback: L.A. is not going to lay down, no matter the odds. Matthew Stafford needs to be better, though.“
Eagles OT Lane Johnson announces retirement from NFL amid 14th season (nfl.com)
“Having long been an advocate for mental health, Johnson explained that it’s time for him to focus on his own emotional well-being.
“I deeply wanted to gut it out for one more year; to take the field with my brothers for one last season,” Johnson’s statement read, in part. “But after a lot of reflection, I’ve realized that my personal and family priorities in my life have changed. Right now, it is critical that I focus on my mental health. I owe it to my teammates, coaches, the organization and the fans to have my head and heart 100 percent in the game. And right now my heart is telling me that it’s time to say goodbye to football.”
Johnson, 36, had considered retirement after the 2025 season, but ultimately decided to return. His final season would end with just three games played, though.“
Comment of the Day:
“Hind sight always being 20/20, but I think the bigger miss was not getting a speedy WR3/return guy instead of Klare. ILB being was it is and the amount of cap already committed to Landman and the rest makes it highly unlikely they would have gone ILB in the 3rd.
In my opinion, the lack of a true speed guy (and I’m including Tutu) in the WR group and return group is a glaring weakness that still needs to be addressed.“ -Merlin&Deacon
