During the international break, there have been a handful of reports coming out of Europe suggesting the Premier League or even Real Madrid could be a destination for Michael Olise at some point in the near future, perhaps even this summer. It’s no secret that a handful of top clubs throughout Europe are highly interested in signing him with just how good he’s been for Bayern Munich ever since joining from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024, but there’s no reason to suggest he’s currently looking
to go elsewhere.
A handful of Bayern execs including Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß have come out and scoffed at the rumors linking Olise with a potential move away from Munich and board member for sport Max Eberl has confirmed the French winger is absolutely NOT for sale. In a recent appearance on Sport1’s Dopplepass (via Goal), former Bayern and Germany midfielder Stefan Effenberg followed suit with the sentiment that there’s no reason Olise should even be considering a move away from the German Rekordmeister.
“He’d be doing himself a favor, because he feels very much at home here in Munich and within the team,” Effenberg stressed when he was explaining Olise staying at Bayern. The winger’s current contract with the Bundesliga champions runs through June 2029, having signed a five year deal when he moved from Crystal Palace.
Effenberg feels the best thing for Olise would be to see out his full contract at Bayern and for the club to offer him an extension at some point before then. “I can’t imagine him leaving FC Bayern in the summer. I would be inclined to extend his contract again,” he said.
At this point in time, one would be rather hard pressed to find anyone involved with FC Bayern to disagree with Effenberg, as Olise has been one of the best signings the club has made in recent memory. He’s tallied 36 goals and 50 assists for Bayern from a total of 94 appearances across all competitions, rarely gets injured, stays incredibly humble, and has shown absolutely no signs of slowing down whatsoever — he just keeps getting better and better and has been so incredibly consistent for Bayern.
