Brian Norman Jr defends his WBO welterweight title against Devin Haney on November 22 and in anticipation of the fight he talks to Sky Sports about what this opportunity means to him and facing a name
opponent despite already having the belt.
“He is the opponent I’ve been dreaming of,” Norman told Sky Sports. “His strengths are his feet, his jab. But his weakness is Brian Norman Jr. The fact that I am me, the fact that I put this work in, the fact that I wake up early with the intensity and integrity that I have each and every day.”
Norman would go on to say that he isn’t taking Haney lightly nor judging him based on his last performance against Jose Ramirez, believing that Haney will be coming into this fight looking to make a statement of his own. With Norman believing Haney will be mentally prepared for this fight, he knows this is going to be the kind of fight that can come down to intangibles.
“Straight up skill, integrity and savageness will be what wins this fight.”
Norman looks to showcase more than just his power in this outing, saying his own ring IQ will be on full display in this fight. And if Norman manages to successfully defend his belt against Haney he’ll add more credibility to his own status as a welterweight titleholder, which will certainly mean bigger meal tickets for him going forward.
