The 2025 season did not start as expected on Sunday afternoon for the New Orleans Saints after they fell at home to the Arizona Cardinals with a final score of 20-13. Next up is the San Francisco 49ers but first, let’s check out how social media reacted to the black and gold’s season opener.
Too many penalties:
Flags, flags, and more flags. Pre-snap penalties, post-snap penalties, penalties on kickoffs, etc. The Saints must learn to play winning football while maintaining a clean and flag-free game.
Unfortunately, there is plenty of room for improvement in this area. There were just far too many mental and outright dumb mistakes.
Cam Jordan rarned the gold jerseys:
Saints’ DE Cam Jordan has been very vocal about wanting New Orleans to bring back a sort of gold jersey within their uniform schemes. In the season opener, fans got to see a vintage performance from the black and gold legend. Perhaps we should continue to listen to things Cam wants if it will revitalize his showing on game days.
The touchdown that could have been:
As much as the Saints did wrong in Week One, they did enough to be within striking distance up until the very end. Spencer Rattler and the offense were given a last gasp opportunity to operate the two-minute drill with no timeouts. Although nowhere close to perfect throughout the first 58 minutes of the game, Rattler put the ball on the money to Juwan Johnson. After getting inside the red zone, it appeared that they had managed to score once more before the football dribbled out of the clashing bodies and onto the gold turf in the end zone. The Saints could not manage to complete the drive, sending fans home after a heartbreaking loss.
