Former Bayern Munich academy standout Paul Wanner did not have to wait too long to get a match-up against his old squad.
Now with PSV Eindhoven, Wanner has recently improved his play and could play a role
in trying to take down the Bavarians in the Champions League.
“We’re well prepared. We know it’s an important game. We’re motivated and 100% ready for this match. We especially want to win at home. I’m looking forward to it. I know a lot of players, a lot of people there. I’ve known some of them well since they were young, so I’m in touch with them. I had a great time at Bayern. I’m incredibly grateful to the club. We know it’s one of the best teams. But I know our strengths, so I’m optimistic for tomorrow,” said Wanner said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
The player who has jumped into Wanner’s former role as “gem of the academy” is Lennart Karl. Wanner says that he does not know Wanner all that well, but can see that he has done well for himself in Bavaria. Wanner also sounds confident that he is now on the right track for his own career.
“Lennart is playing well. I don’t know him that well, because I only know him from preseason. He’s doing great. Everyone has their own unique path. He’s doing well, but I have my own path. That will also be a successful one,” Wanner remarked.
Wanner, who has put a new focus on fitness, has matured as a player and would — undoubtedly — love to play a big role in helping his team to a very important victory.
