On Wednesday, the Dolphins officially placed cornerback JuJu Brents on injured reserve after he suffered a foot injury in Miami’s Week 11 overtime win over the Washington Commanders.
The former Indianapolis
Colts’ second-round pick (44th overall) played well in his limited time with Miami, starting two critical games for the team down the stretch. Brents looked, dare I say it, #good?!?! He will finish the 2025 season with 14 tackles, one pass breakup, and a fumble recovery.
With Miami’s secondary already banged up, after losing starters Kader Kohou, Storm Duck, and Artie Burns for the season, interim general manager Champ Kelly and head coach Mike McDaniel searched high and low to find a potential spark for Anthony Weaver’s secondary. (Or at the very least bring in added competition at a position of need, with the potential to find the next great “acorn”)
According to the team’s official site, shortly after placing Brents on IR, the Dolphins poached veteran cornerback A.J. Green from the Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad.
In five seasons, Green (27) has appeared in 36 games (started two) with the Cleveland Browns and Rams. Throughout his career, Green has recorded 26 tackles, two interceptions, seven pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries. He’s also been a presence on special teams, recording 14 tackles throughout his career.
The 6’2, 198-pound defensive back played collegiately at Oklahoma State, where he started 39 games. He will now look to make a name for himself on the Dolphins’ practice squad, with the chance of eventually being elevated on gameday.
What are your thoughts on the Dolphins losing JuJu Brents for the season? Do you agree that he was playing well when called upon? How do you feel about poaching A.J. Green (Not the 37-year-old WR) from the Rams’ practice squad? Let us know in the comments section below!
