The Chargers are in the midst of prep for their season opener against the Cardinals on Sunday and with Wednesday’s practice done, we have our first official injury report of the 2026 season.
It’s a fairly clean report to start the year with just six players. Cornerback Deane Leonard is the only player to sit out practice entirely with an injury (abdomen). Khalil Mack did not practice on Wednesday but that was due to a veteran’s rest day which has been the norm for him on Wednesday’s.
The other four
players listed were safety R.J. Mickens (ankle), running back Keaton Mitchell (hamstring), wide receiver Brenen Thompson (hip), and edge rusher Tuli Tuipulotu (hip) who were all limited participants.
Tuipulotu started training camp with an injury that caused him to slow-roll out of the gate so this isn’t terribly surprising to see. You just hope there wasn’t some kind of setback.
Mitchell missed six consecutive practices but recently returned to the field this week. His health will be one to watch. Same goes with Thompson as both him and Mitchell bring real, elite speed to the offense.
