The Cleveland Browns’ Week 1 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars is sure to draw significant attention and scrutiny from both fans and the media. Everyone will be waiting to see how Deshaun Watson looks under center for his first regular-season snaps since 2024. While the quarterback will command much of the attention, what other aspect of the season opener deserves close attention?
One of the biggest things to watch will be how the offense performs under Todd Monken’s leadership. The preseason
is not an exact sign of what the offense will look like with all the most important personnel on the field. This will be the first opportunity to see how Monken plans to attack opposing defenses, how heavily the offense will rely on the run game, which personnel packages it uses most, and what the team’s overall identity will look like. Fans got used to Head Coach Kevin Stefanski’s game plan after several seasons, so this will certainly be a change of pace.
When evaluating the run game in Week 1, it will be particularly telling to see how Quinshon Judkins is utilized and the kind of production he provides. The revamped offensive line will obviously be a big part of this discussion as well. Judkins could be gearing up for a really big season in Cleveland. With the questions surrounding Watson’s ability to run this offense, Judkins may have a really big game in week one.
Let me know what you think in the comments – What should Browns fans actually watch for in Week 1?
