It turns out that Dusan Vlahovic won’t be the only young man who has worn the black and white stripes of Juventus for the last half-decade that will be heading to Beşiktaş this summer.
Or one that is of Italian blood.
Vincenzo Italiano’s ties to Serie A has once again seen the new club he’s coaching at come in and sign somebody who has been or is still currently employed by Juventus. First it was Vlahovic on a free agent deal, now Juventus and Beşiktaş have agreed to a season-long loan deal with an option
to buy next summer for 23-year-old midfielder Fabio Miretti, according to multiple reports out of Italy on Tuesday night. It comes at a time in which Miretti looks to be at the bottom of Luciano Spalletti’s pecking order in the center of the park, making him expendable at a time in which Juve need to free up roster (and salary) space so they can bring in another player or two before the end of the summer transfer window.
Fabrizio Romano says that the option to buy is worth €10 million. For a player who came through Juventus’ academy, that would be some lovely, lovely profit for Miretti, who made his senior debut in 2021.
Considering Juventus were hoping to get upward of €15 million for Miretti when he was rumored to be potentially heading to Bologna at the end of the fiscal year in June, that might not look all that great. But, again, it’s not like Miretti is an asset that is demanding the kind of price that Juventus may actually want for it.
But, the thing is, if Miretti heading to Beşiktaş and it opens up a roster space for somebody like Franck Kessié to join the squad in the next few days, then that seems like a pretty good trade off.
Miretti had a productive season on loan at Genoa two years ago but wasn’t able to replicate that kind of form when he returned to Juventus last season. He scored just one goal and record one assist in 23 appearances in Serie A last season, with much of those games being as a substitute.
