Well this is bad news. After he was forced off the pitch against Arsenal, Bayern Munich winger Luis Díaz has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his thigh which will keep him sidelined for the time being. There is no official timeline on his return, but depending on the severity, this could take weeks to recover from.
The press release on FCBayern.com was brief:
Luis Díaz picked up a minor muscle fibre tear in his left hamstring during FC Bayern’s Champions League game against Arsenal on Wednesday
night. The injury was confirmed by examinations carried out by the FC Bayern medical unit. As a result, the 29-year-old attacking midfielder will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
The tear is described as “minor”, but minor hamstring issues can become major ones when they start to happen over and over again. These injuries are a sign of accumulated fatigue, which the Colombian has been subjected to after a grueling schedule with Bayern Munich and his national team over the past season. An injury like this could signal a tough road ahead for Díaz. The doctors will take absolutely zero risks.
