Maryland wrestling completed its final tournament of 2025-26 Saturday at the Southern Scuffle, with two Terps placing in the top three in their respective weight classes.
Redshirt senior Braxton Brown led the way for Maryland, making it all the way to the finals at 133. He defeated Campbell’s Logan Heil, Virginia’s Kyle Montaperto and Cornell’s Brett Ungar en route to the finals. In the championship, he lost in a 5-4 decision to No. 16 Dom Serrano of Northern Colorado.
Meanwhile, Branson John placed
third in the 197 weight class. John ultimately fell to No. 1 Josh Barr of Penn State, 12-4. He won the third place match by takedown over Brown’s No. 31 Andrew Reall.
Maryland is back in action on Friday against Northwestern as it opens Big Ten play.
