Washington drops this one, 132-111.
The Wizards battled in this one on the strength of 3 point shooting (44 percent) to start out the first half, which kept them within striking distance of the Thunder. This game was ultimately decided by the Wizards inability to defend the Thunder without fouling. Wizards committed 26 fouls and sent the Thunder to the line 30 times. Collectively, the Wizards just could not play discipline defense.
This one did get chippy. Towards the end of the 1st half, there was
an incident that involved Justin Champagnie, Jaylin Williams, Ajay Mitchell and Cason Wallace getting ejected from the game.
Jamir Watkins had a strong performance 13 points, but had a sequence in the 2nd quarter of scoring 10 straight points, including two 3-pointers.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander went off in the 3rd quarter with 14 of his game-high 40 points, to start to put some distance between the Thunder and the Wizards. His buzzer beating 3-pointer at the end of the frame really seemed to stop all of the momentum the Wizards had kept throughout the game.
The Wizards were outscored 29-15 in the 4th quarter to wrap up their 15th straight loss. Washington will pack up and hit the road as they will play the 2nd of a back to back games tomorrow evening in New York, against the New York Knicks.
