The Bengals got an injection of hope recently with the news that Joe Burrow would not only be back this season, but earlier than expected, with a potential Thanksgiving return.
With the prospect of Burrow returning, the Bengals could turn their attention to a potentially season-defining game against the Steelers. With a 3-6 record, the team needs to win the majority of its remaining games if they are going to make the playoffs.
However, despite a seemingly renewed sense of potential for the season,
the offense came out flat against the Steelers, with the magic from Joe Flacco not continuing. While that would make the game seem completely hopeless, the defense actually managed to hold its own for the majority of the game. Like so many recent weeks, though, the defense folded when it mattered most. The offense had brought it back to a one-possession game in the fourth quarter, and the defense gave up a lengthy touchdown drive, essentially sealing the Bengals’ fate in this game.
