Barcelona midfielder Gavi has reacted to Spain’s disappointing World Cup opener against Cape Verde by telling the team to stay united and keep believing.
La Roja were held to a goalless draw by the minnows and put in a disappointing performance.
Gavi has taken to social media to share his views and is focused on the team’s next game against Saudi Arabia.
“Nobody said this was going to be easy, this is a World Cup,” he posted on Instagram.
“The important thing is to be united in the face of adversity,
keep believing in this team because we’re going to leave everything until the end. Now to work to win the next game, there is nothing else #VamosEspaña.”
Gavi was something of a surprise starter against Cape Verde but Luis de la Fuente may well make changes to his team for their next game.
Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal both came off the bench against Cape Verde but it’s not known yet whether either player is ready to start after injury.
