Dino Toppmöller knows Bayern Munich really well and understands the big task ahead of his Eintracht Frankfurt squad.
“The respect we have for them needs to disappear at kick-off. We need to make them feel
that they have to respect us. We know that we’re facing a team with incredible quality. But it’s up to us to battle hard and to play well. If we do that, we’ll see what we get out of it at the end. I expect us to go into the game with the attitude of wanting to show everyone what we can do and to win this match. That’s what I want to see. It’s about commitment and power, and the energy that we want to generate in our stadium,” Toppmöller said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
One thing that Toppmöller knows needs to happen for his squad to get three points is to stop — or at least try to slow down — The Kane Train. Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane has been on fire and Toppmöller understands the danger that Englishman presents, but the head coach also knows Bayern Munich has too many dangerous players to just try and stop one.
“It doesn’t make a lot of sense to just focus on one player. Bayern have top-quality players in every position. (Joshua) Kimmich, (Michael) Olise, (Serge) Gnabry and (Luis) Díaz, for example, are all in fine form. We’ll have to defend against Kane as a team and be smart in our positioning in the penalty area because he’s smart. They have a good game plan and the way they’ve dominated every opponent this season, including Chelsea, has been impressive,” said Toppmöller.
After dismantling Pafos FC in the Champions League, Bayern Munich will travel to Eintracht Frankfurt for a key Bundesliga tilt.
Die Adler can be a handful, but the Bavarians are riding high at the moment and could be too much for the offensive strong, but defensively challenged Eintracht Frankfurt squad to handle.
