A new article posted on CBS Sports from NFL analyst John Breech has him looking at all 32 teams and predicting when they would all lose their first game of the 2025 season. Now as much as every fan base in the country likes to imagine their team making a run across the schedule without a single blemish in their loss column, it’s just not possible. By the end of the first weekend, half of the teams will no longer be undefeated.
Amongst that first group of losers? The Los Angeles Chargers as Breech
believes history will continue itself with the Bolts losing to the Chiefs in Brazil.
“The Chiefs have won seven straight games against the Chargers, but they’ve never beaten them in Brazil,” says Breech. “However, there’s a first time for everything. The Chargers have had a run of bad injury luck with Rashawn Slater out for the season and the Chiefs are the Chiefs.“
The atmosphere in Brazil is going to be electric. It’s going to be one-of-a-kind for both teams. The energy is going to be felt through both teams and elevate their game even higher. The unfortunate part is that the Chargers are missing one of their best players and the Chiefs are not. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones are all healthy. All their secondary stars are also good to go.
Right now, the Chargers have a concussed Quentin Johnston and a Mekhi Becton that just missed three weeks of practice on top of the Slater injury. The odds do not look good for the Bolts to pull off the upset. However, we’ve seen the Chargers beat the Chiefs before with they are short-handed. It’s always a competitive game, as well. Eight of their last 10 matchups have been decided by seven points or less and five games have been by three or less.
Anything could happen, or so it seems until the final drive of the game and then the Chiefs show they’re the ones who know how to finish when it’s needed.
But alas, what are your thoughts on this year’s season opener? Do the Chargers have a better shot at beating the Chiefs than in recent years? Let us know below!
