Everton have transferred striker Youssef Chermiti to Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Premier League. Reports indicate that the transfer fee is about £8 million, and could rise to £10m with add-ons. There is also a ‘significant’ sell-on clause in the contract should Rangers choose to move the player on.
The 21-year-old came to the Toffees on a four-year contract from Sporting CP in the summer of 2023 for about £11m, and even though there was a 12.5% sell-on clause to be paid to the Liga Portugal side,
since Everton are not realizing a profit on the sale no fee will be paid out.
Chermiti was not really able to settle into the squad and leaves having made 24 appearances for the Blues and playing just under 300 minutes across all competitions over three seasons. He follows Kevin Thelwell to Rangers, with the former Director of Football having first brought him to England while at Everton.
While talks between the two clubs centered around a loan move for the player, Rangers deemed the price tag quoted as worthwhile and the conversation changed to a permanent deal.
The departure of the Portugal Under-21 international leaves just Beto and Thierno Barry as the strikers in the first team. At this point there has been no word of the Blues pursuing any more reinforcements for the position with only a day left in the summer transfer window.
