Luis Díaz, who will not feature in any of Bayern Munich’s matches this week, has been given extra rest by Vincent Kompany:
Lucho has played all games, for us and the national team. He’s always on long journeys
to South America and back. He spent a long time in England, where he never had Christmas off. It makes sense for him to have a few days off and spend time with his family. He’ll come back mentally in top form and pick up right where he left off. He’ll be back in a few days. Sometimes we give players a bit more time off, but they have an individual training program and they continue working at home. The guys train almost every day and also have private physiotherapists.

When Bayern Munich downed Sporting CP 3-1 in the Champions League, Lucho was at home sitting out the second match of a two-game suspension (formerly three) after his red card against Paris Saint-Germain. The 28-year-old will also miss the Bavarians’ meeting with Mainz after picking up a fifth Bundesliga yellow card in their 5-0 demolition of VfB Stuttgart. He will feature in time for the final match of the year, which is an away trip to Heidenheim.
