Football:
Rick Stockstill made it clear there will be immediate changes going forward and spoke with pride about understanding the weight of the program these players represent. It was a new look at the podium yesterday:
The snub broke Mike Norvell; in hindsight it’s clear as day.
FSU’s leadership is now tasked with convincing the right coach and athletic director that the snub didn’t break the program, too.
Unless Texas or Oklahoma opens FSU will be the best job to open in the south. Did FSU take a year too long to make this move? Yes, they likely did but the fortuitous part of the delay is that they’ll be operating in a significantly less competitive hiring environment in 2026.
Recruiting:
The good news is that FSU’s top 2027 recruits are likely to stay in the class. Brendan Sonnone has become a national reporter for 247Sports and he’s reporting that it is likely that Ta’Shawn Poole sticks with FSU.
Not only is Poole still committed at this time, but he’s very open to remaining committed to the Seminoles and eventually signing with the program. He likes the area, he’s had family attend FSU, and – this is an important piece of the puzzle – he committed to the program knowing that a Norvell dismissal was possible. Even though he highly regarded Norvell, Poole committed to FSU as much as he committed to a coach.
At this time, I’d say it’s more likely than not that he ends up at FSU.
Poole is ranked 67th overall in 247’s Composite Rankings and is a borderline 5-star talent.
FSU is also well-positioned to hold onto four-star DL Sam LeJeune.Ranked 127th overall, the 6’3 280lb DL from Mississippi can play all along the defensive line.
“I’m still committed to FSU,” LeJeune said. “We’ll see who the head coach is, who the DC is and how that affects me.
“But I like FSU and that was part of the thinking before this began, that FSU was a good spot (regardless of coach).”
