The Washington Commanders are 0-2 after back-to-back road losses to the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. Jayden Daniels suffered an elbow injury on the final play of the first half after bracing himself on a last-second touchdown attempt. Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters after the game that there were no fractures, but the team would be doing more testing today. Marcus Mariota was named the starter for Sunday’s home opener against the Seattle Seahawks.
Daniels dislocated the same elbow last
season, and he was shut down when he tried to return later in the season. He didn’t have surgery, but that decision will need to be made again this year, along with wearing a brace in the future. Quinn said surgery and wearing a brace weren’t discussed last year, and John Keim noted that was likely due to tests showing no ligament damage.
Several other players were injured during yesterday’s loss. Quinn also added an u reported injury that could have been serious. Safety Nick Cross was hospitalized after the game for internal injuries, and didn’t travel home with the team. He has been released, and is headed back to Washington, D.C.
Sam Cosmi remains in concussion protocol after getting hit by teammate Kaytron Allen late in the game. LT Brandon Coleman suffered a finger injury, but should be good to go. DT Javon Kinlaw suffered a shoulder injury that will need more testing done.
