José Ramírez has returned and returned he has. José, officially completely hamate-less, went 2-for-5 with 2RBI and a run in last night’s loss to the Minnesota Twins. Full game recap can be read here.
Angel Martínez made another rehab appearance with the Double A Akron RubberDucks. Angel went 1-for-4 with a walk in last night’s 10-inning walk off victory against the Altoona Curve. Angel’s sole hit was a high leverage single in the bottom of the ninth to load the bases in a tie game.
Tim Herrin was in the
bullpen/dugout today in Cleveland and looks to be returning tomorrow or Friday as well.
Kahlil Watson was sent down to make room on the 26-man roster for José. The move makes sense when considering Kahlil’s development. But it begs the question on who will be sent down when Angel Martínez returns. In my opinion, Petey Halpin and David Fry are the most likely. However, I would like to see Fry sent down to get regular at bats to see if that can improve some of his offensive woes. Fry has 3 MiLB options left according to Fangraphs. Petey has options left as well, but has already been recalled from Columbus thrice this year. Schneemann, Rhys, and Arias are all options to consider as well, though Rhys or Arias would require a DFA over an option to Triple-A Columbus. Lots of roster adjustments to look forward to as the trade deadline remains ever looming.

The Boston Red Sox extended their win streak to 15 games in Game 1 of yesterday’s double header against the Baltimore Orioles. But the Cleveland 22 win streak can rest easy again thanks to the Orioles. Baltimore beat the Red Sox 5-1 in Game 2.
