By now, I’m sure you’ve heard that Anthony Hernandez is injured and out of his Reinier de Ridder fight at the upcoming UFC Vancouver MMA event next month in Canada. If not, get all the details on the middleweight switcheroo here, then get “Fluffy’s” take on what happened by clicking here.
Stepping in for Hernandez will be 185-pound veteran Brendan Allen, who opened as the +135 underdog. That’s according to our fiscal friends over at BetOnline.ag, pegging De Ridder as the -155 betting favorite. Don’t
be surprised to see that line shift (in both directions) over the next few weeks.
De Ridder (21-2) is currently ranked seven spots ahead of Allen (25-7) in the official middleweight rankings.
“The Dutch Knight” is looking to become the frontrunner for the next 185-pound title shot with a victory at UFC Vancouver. That said, he’s facing stiff competition from No. 2-ranked contender Nassourdine Imavov. It’s worth noting that Allen holds previous losses to both Hernandez and Imavov, though a strong performance against De Ridder could get “All In” right back into the mix.
